I believe in using the power of the internet to facilitate a conversation about music.
It is about more than just a one-way flow of ideas.
Here are some of my web projects:
www.woodwindvoices.com (of course):
Includes information about me, my wife, flutist Dr. Sasha Garver, and the Reed Flute Duo.
www.bassoonexcerpts.info:
A collection of snippets of recordings of the great bassoon excerpts from orchestral literature.
Allows community comments on each excerpt. Intended as a resource for comparative and historical
study of bassoon excerpts, as heard through the interpretation and execution of some of the best
musicians of the last fifty years.
www.suzukicolorado.org:
I volunteer as the webmaster for the Suzuki Association of Colorado, an organization with over 500 members.
This site is that organization's main way of communicating with the community of Suzuki teachers and students
in Colorado, members and non-members alike.
www.suzukifluterep.com:
One of the traditional arguments against the Suzuki method of instruction is the students' lack of note
reading ability. This criticism has led to a proliferation of supplemental materials
designed to help students learn how to read music, among other things. Use of these supplemental
materials is especially high in the US. Suzukifluterep.com has so far catalogued over 100 supplemental books,
each of which has been graded by level, rated, and reviewed. The site itself is completely dynamic, using
a built-in administrative section based on the Ruby on Rails framework.
